Biography

Bert was the son of Bertie C Hunt, former Mayor of Blandford. Bert worked in his father's fish shop prior to the war. He played football and cricket for Blandford and the county.

On 24 Jan 1942, Bert married Dorothy May Lush at the Close Methodist Church. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs G Lush of Lower Farm, Blandford St Mary. Sam Pascoe was his best man, as his brother was a prisoner of war. The Scout Section bought the couple a canteen of cutlery as a wedding gift.

In early Jul 1942, Bert's sister Lilian married his sergeant, Ted Millbank. After the war the two worked together in the fish shop. Following the closure of the shop, Bert sadly took his own life. His widow widow married another ex-Dorset soldier from same draft, Wilf Boyte
