What skills do you have?

We are looking for researchers in North Scotland, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Essex, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Cornwall, Worcestershire and South Wales. 

You don't have to have had any experience, just be interested in the subject matter and have some spare time. Find out more here

Newsletter Editor (Volunteer)

To collate CART research and news and publish in a regular online newsletter to CART's members and followers.

Working directly with CART HQ you will prepare a monthly/bi-monthly electronic newsletter which will be sent out to subscribers. You will work with CART's CIOs to ensure any information requests are included and follow all published activity online.

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Some track record or good experience in writing magazine copy. 
  • Good copy writing and written skills. 
  • Experience using online newsletter software preferred. 
  • Proficiency in English. 
  • Knowledge of computers e.g. Microsoft office, internet, email etc. 
  • Some knowledge of the British Resistance movement. 
  • Committed to CART’s mission, vision and values. 
  • Computer with internet access.

Educational Officer (Volunteer)

Promote CART's research in schools. Encourage younger people to get involved with research and work with CART's CIO's to produce educational material for schools.

Working directly with CART HQ you will suggest and then implement new ideas for attracting interest from younger people to the CART site. You will work directly with schools and help find ways of getting them involved and interacting with CART's research.  You will also produce educational aids for the CART site and for schools.

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Good experience in teaching or learning with young people. 
  • Effective communicator – both verbal and written. 
  • Proficiency in English. 
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and good with children. 
  • Knowledge of computers e.g. Microsoft office, internet, email etc. 
  • Some knowledge of WW2 history and British Resistance movement. 
  • Committed to CART’s mission, vision and values. 
  • Computer with internet access.

Marketing and Advertising Officer (Volunteer)

To promote CART's work online and to link build with other WW2 groups. To come up with ideas for revenue streams and ways of attracting paid advertisers on the CART website.

Working directly with CART HQ you will suggest and then implement new ideas for attracting new viewers to the website. You will also work with CART’s Press Officer and use CART's social media channels to raise awareness of CART's work and website.

You will be responsible for looking at any merchandising ideas.

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Track record of good experience in marketing and advertising. 
  • Have good social media skills 
  • Effective communicator – both verbal and written 
  • Proficiency in English 
  • Ability to work as part of a small team 
  • Knowledge of computers e.g. Microsoft office, internet, email etc. 
  • Some knowledge of WW2 history and British Resistance movement 
  • Committed to CART’s mission, vision and values 
  • Computer with internet access

National Research Co-ordinator (Volunteer)

Recruit more (CIO's) researchers in counties around the UK and encourage public to donate material. Provide assistance to existing CIOs.

Working directly with CART HQ you will suggest and then implement new ideas for attracting new researchers to the group. You will be contacted historical groups in key areas around the country. You will regularly liaise with CART’s Press Officer and use the media to help you attract more volunteer researchers.

You will also be responsible for assisting the existing CIOs and providing any help as and when needed.

Ideal Skills and Experience

  • Track record of good experience in internet research and ideally some knowledge of Genealogy & historical groups. 
  • Effective communicator – both verbal and written 
  • Proficiency in English 
  • Ability to work as part of a small team 
  • Knowledge of computers e.g. Microsoft office, internet, email etc. 
  • Some knowledge of WW2 history and British Resistance movement 
  • Committed to CART’s mission, vision and values 
  • Computer with internet access

County Information Officers (CIOs) (Volunteer)

Our research structure and group is set up in a similar way to the original chain of command of the Auxiliary Units. This format allows clearer information to pass around the organisation.
